Linfield’s Charlie Allen, 16, was the next through the door at Throp Arch agreeing to a three-year-deal.

Then, as exclusively revealed by Football Insider, Leeds added 18-year-old full-back Cody Drameh from Fulham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider Brown labelled the moves “exciting”.

He said: “They’re going to be training with the first team but it might be difficult for them to play.

“But when we talk about the priority, we wondered whether the money would be there to attract the younger players. It’s now proven there’s money to be able to do that.

“With Bielsa that’s what’s exciting, he’ll be able to develop those players. Not only are you buying a young player with possible potential you have the tools to actually develop them in a very good way.

“It’s good that they’re getting a couple of younger players in and I’m sure they’ll be looking to improve with ready made starters as well. They won’t want too many I wouldn’t imagine so we’ll see if there’s any more coming in.”

Gelhardt enjoyed a breakthrough season at Wigan, making 19 appearances, 17 from the bench scoring once.

After becoming Linfield’s youngest ever player at the age of 15 years, five months and five days, Allen played four games for David Healy’s side.

Despite not making his senior Fulham bow, Drameh has represented England u18s.
