Brentford B assistant manager Sam Saunders is under consideration for the Crawley Town vacancy, Football League World has been told.
The League Two side are on the lookout for a new boss after Matthew Etherington left in December following just 32 days in charge.
Whilst they picked up a point against Newport County last time out, the 2-2 draw, which came after the Red Devils were two up, means they are just six points clear of the relegation zone with the bottom two having a game in hand.
Therefore, this next appointment is crucial for the under-fire owners, who have understandably come in for fierce criticism from the support.
And, as they weigh up a list of potential candidates, FLW can reveal that Saunders is in the running.

The 39-year-old is currently involved with the Bees B team, so he does have coaching experience, however he has not yet been a manager so this would be his first senior role and a big step up.
Nevertheless, he is highly-rated within the Brentford setup, and the Londoners have a stellar reputation when it comes to identifying talent both on and off the pitch.
Crawley are back in action on January 14 when they host Doncaster Rovers.
