Bolton Wanderers have made a move to sign Middlesbrough defender Marc Bola on loan for the rest of the season, Football Insider understands.
Boro boss Jonathan Woodgate revealed last week that the Championship side willing to send the 22-year-old out on loan for the second half of the campaign after struggling for regular game time.
A source at the Riverside Stadium has told Football Insider that League One side Bolton are among a number of clubs who have made enquiries over securing his signing on a temporary basis.
Bolton, who started the season with a 12-point deduction for entering administration back in May, currently sit bottom of the third-tier table, 17 points adrift of safety.
Manager Keith Hill is looking to bolster his squad as they try to catch the rest of the division and has registered his interest in taking Bola to the University of Bolton Stadium.
The London-born left-back joined Middlesbrough from Blackpool last summer after impressing for the Seasiders in League One, where he made 43 appearances and won the club’s Player of the Year award.
The 22-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in Woodgate’s side since his arrival at the Riverside, the former Arsenal youngster making only eight appearances across all competitions so far this season.
Boro believe Bola will benefit by going out on loan for the second half of the season by getting regular first-team football before returning to Teesside next season to challenge for a place in the side.
In other Middlesbrough news, Football Insider can reveal that a London club are plotting to sign a Boro attacker.
