Blackpool youngster Rob Apter is set to join Crewe Alexandra on loan when the January window opens, Football League World can exclusively reveal.

The 19-year-old winger is currently with Scunthorpe in the National League, and whilst it’s been a tough season for The Iron so far, as they sit bottom of the table, Apter has been one of a few positives since joining from the Seasiders, scoring four times in the league.

And, such form has caught the eye, and FLW can now confirm that the teenager is set to get an opportunity in League Two, as a move to Crewe is on the cards when the window opens next week.

There is an expectation that Apter’s temporary spell with Scunthorpe will be cut short before he is then sent to Crewe, where he will hope to impress at the higher level.

Can you remember how much Blackpool paid for these 22 summer signings?

This will be a welcome addition for Lee Bell, who will be desperate to strengthen his squad in the New Year after an underwhelming campaign so far for the Railwaymen, who are in the bottom half in the fourth tier.

It remains to be seen what the long-term future holds for Apter, as his deal at Bloomfield Road expires in the summer but Blackpool do have a 12-month option.
