Désiré Doué has bedded in nicely at Paris Saint-Germain since making the €50m move from the Parc des Princes from formative club Stade Rennais at the start of the season.
The France youth international is featuring increasingly prominently with 30 games already under his belt. In that time, he has four goals and eight assists and, alongside Ousmane Dembélé, Khivcha Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barcola, is becoming an increasingly important creative force in Luis Enrique’s set-up.
However, the story could have been a little different, as AS Monaco manager Adi Hütter revealed during an exclusive interview with Get French Football News. The Austrian revealed that Doué had been a player discussed during the summer transfer window, prior to PSG making their approach.
“Doué, when I saw him at Rennes, I said ‘Wow, €50m’. I saw his dribbles against us. We talked a lot about him but then there was the offer from PSG. It’s a lot of money,” revealed Hütter. That bid prevented the Principality club from making any advances.
