Marko Arnautovic’s contract with Inter Milan expires at the end of this month.

However, the 36-year-old will not be travelling with the squad to the Club World Cup.

Reports have long indicated that this would be the end of the road for the former Bologna, West Ham United, and Stoke City striker at the San Siro.

Arnautovic joined Inter in the summer of 2023. This was in fact the second time that he has been at the club.

Marko Arnautovic had also been on loan at the Nerazzurri during the 2009-10 season.

That was the campaign where Inter won the Treble of the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia, and the Champions League.

Arnautovic was a bit part player then. However, he has certainly had his role to play this time around, and has now won the Serie A title with Inter.

Marko Arnautovic told AntennaSport that “For me personally, my time at Inter is over.”

“I will no longer be at the club,” he confirmed.

Meanwhile, Arnautovic gave his thoughts on the imminent arrival of Cristian Chivu as the new Nerazzurri coach to replace Simone Inzaghi.

“I’m very happy with Cristian’s appointment,” he said.

The Austrian striker noted that “I played with him.”

“I’ve already spoken with him. He’s a young and ambitious coach.”

Arnautovic said that Chivu “has a lot of quality, and can help the group.”

“But the most important thing is that he loves this team. He’s loved Inter all his life.”

The departing Inter striker commented that Chivu “is a coach, but he thinks like a player.”

“I think he’ll do well. I wish Inter and Cristian the best, and I believe next season they’ll be champions again.”
