Inter Milan forward Marko Arnautovic could make his return from injury in the upcoming Champions League clash against RB Salzburg.
The Nerazzurri travel to Bergamo this weekend for a Serie A encounter against Atalanta.
Following this relatively short trip, Simone Inzaghi’s men will head to Austria for a midweek meeting against Salzburg.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Arnautovic will remain on the sidelines this weekend.
However, the veteran striker should make his return to action against his compatriots on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old made his return to Inter in the summer, 13 years following his initial stint at the club. He joined the Nerazzurri on loan from Bologna with an obligation to buy on certain conditions.
Arnautovic has thus far made five Serie A appearances this season, all coming from the bench. His solitary start came in the Champions League.
The former West Ham bomber has been out of action since sustaining a hamstring injury against Empoli on September 27th.
Therefore, his return will be a boost for the Nerazzurri who have been short of options in attack.
Inter have already beaten Salzburg at home last week in a 2-1 result. They’re now seeking a double over the Austrian champions. A win should book the Italians’ spot in the Round of 16.
On the other hand, the report states that Juan Cuadrado is yet to recover from his injury.
Thus, the Colombian veteran won’t travel with the squad to Austria in midweek.
