Former Serie A official Giampaolo Calvarese spoke to Il Messaggero about the latest controversy in Monza-Roma.
In the interview, Calvarese discussed the controversial episode involving a potential penalty for Roma in the final minutes of the match.
“We need uniformity. In football, as in jurisprudence, an episode becomes a benchmark for those involved since the rules are difficult to interpret,” said Calvarese.
“Simplifying everything is even more difficult. The problem does not arise from yesterday, but from the awarding of the penalty to Verona last week with an intervention of the VAR for a very minor thing.”
“Starting with Mourinho, passing through Baroni, Fonseca, Gotti, these are penalties that the experts don’t like, but if they are also awarded to the VAR then we need to adopt a common line.”
“This foul on Baldanzi is almost the same as Lecce-Milan of last year which was called by the VAR”.
