AC Milan were once again on the wrong end of another dubious refereeing decision, and one that this time led directly to a goal in the 1-0 defeat to Porto.

As the incident below shows, Ismael Bennacer goes down under pressure from Taremi who appears to back into the Algerian midfielder on the edge of the box, but no foul was whistled. As play continued, Luis Diaz ended up putting the ball into the bottom corner with a precise strike that won Porto all three points in the end.

Former referee Graziano Cesari was part of the coverage of the game for SportMediaset (via MilanNews) and was asked for his interpretation of the incident. He claims that Milan have paid the price in this group stage for poor decisions and Taremi’s intervention on Bennacer was a foul.

“The Rossoneri player looks for the ball, on the other hand the player of Porto only looks at the opponent to play him and not allow him to take possession of the ball. They are clear images, images that they also had at the VAR, who could help the referee. It is an inadmissible error. We are faced with a clear and obvious mistake,” he said.
