Former Roma president Rosella Sensi weighed in on the turbulent situation in Trigoria.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sensi said, “The new ownership has adopted this strategy of silence from the beginning, and without speaking they have won a trophy and carried the club to two European finals.”
“We are talking about important entrepreneurs who have also solved financial problems that were affecting the club before their arrival, I don’t think they need advice.”
“However, what my father taught me is that a president must always put his face to it, he must act as an umbrella for criticism and protests in defense not only of the team but of all those who work for the club.”
“I don’t know the situation at Trigoria, only those who know it thoroughly can know. In theory, I would surround myself with professionals who know Italian football and whom I trust. You can’t get anywhere on your own.”
“I had the opportunity to work with professionals and pillars of the club. I’m thinking of Bruno Conti, Daniele Pradé and Cristina Mazzoleni. Many spoke of family management, but that wasn’t the case.”
“De Rossi? I wouldn’t have sent him away after 4 matchdays and with a three-year project just started. Daniele will become a great coach, but if I were him today I wouldn’t return to Roma.”
