Legendary former Inter and Fiorentina goalkeeper Francesco Toldo is hoping that his two old sides can meat in the Coppa Italia final later this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Firenzeviola, via FCInterNews, the former keeper expressed the wish that the Nerazzurri and La Viola can progress from their Coppa Italia semifinal ties against Juventus and Cremonese respectively.

Inter and Fiorentina are among the two semifinalists left in the Coppa Italia this season, and this is very significant for Toldo.

During his playing career, the former keeper made over three hundred appearances for La Viola, and then went on to make over two hundred for the Nerazzurri.

Both of the pair have a chance for silverware this season, although reaching the final will not be easy.

Inter face Juventus, the team who they beat in the final of last season’s edition of the competition, knowing full well how tough a two-legged tie against the Bianconeri will be.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina will hardly be underestimating a Cremonese side who have already knocked out the likes of Napoli and Roma to get as far as they have done.

However, both of Toldo’s old teams have a great chance, and for his part he would like to see them facing off.

Previewing the next round of the competition, the former keeper stated that “I’m hoping for a final between Inter and Fiorentina, even if it would be difficult for me because I support both teams.”

“But then if Juventus were to reach the final, I’d have no doubts about who I’m going to support,” he added.

“Still, I hope that it’s between Inter and Fiorentina.”

Inter play the first leg of their semifinal tie against Juventus next Tuesday in Turin, whilst Fiorentina travel to Lombardy to face Cremonese in the first round of their own tie the following day.
