Former Inter, Parma, and Lazio striker Hernan Crespo feels that the free transfer of Paulo Dybala from Juventus would be a shrewd move by Inter on a number of levels.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentine gave the view that moving for the Bianconeri man on a free transfer would both weaken a major rival and also be a perfect fit to improve their own team.

Dybala has yet to agree on a contract extension at Juventus, with his current deal set to expire at the end of June.

The player’s situation should be resolved in the coming weeks one way or another, but should it become clear that he will not be renewing with the Bianconeri then the Nerazzurri would be among his main suitors in the summer.

Crespo feels that should Dybala become available on a free transfer in June, then he’s a player who Inter must jump at the chance to sign.

Enumerating the reasons why the 28-year-old would be a good piece of business, he listed “The first: it would weaken a direct rival, and not by a small amount. It is not easy to find a replacement of Dybala’s quality in the transfer market.”

“The second reason,” he went on, “he’d form a great partnership with Lautaro. Apart from the fact that they’re both Argentines and obviously I am happy with that, the two would dovetail perfectly.”

“Lautaro is a forward who’s good in the area,” he explained, “smart and technical, good at finding space away from his marker and protecting the ball.”

“Dybala is a classic second striker,” he went on, “you could even say a “ten”, but for me the real “ten” can only be Maradona.  Anyway Dybala he would be perfectly suited to supply Lautaro with assists, to create for him, to combine with him on the edge of the penalty area.”

“The third and final reason why Inter would make a deal is this,” Crespo added, “Dybala would come in and make the entire team play better.”

He explained that “They already play very well together, but Dybala is a player who finds space, links up with teammates and stitches the entire team together.”
