Former Inter midfielder Averaisto Beccalossi feels that Inter and head coach Simone Inzaghi are a great match and that the project at the club this season is special.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Beccalossi praised the Nerazzurri for their current form and also hailed the leadership of midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

Inter have looked imperious in recent matches, getting themselves well into the Scudetto race while also progressing to the knockout rounds of the Champions League for the first time in a decade.

None of this was taken for granted at the beginning of the season, however, with many doubts about whether they could come close to last campaign’s Scudetto-winning form stemming from the difficult summer at the club.

However, with a few months to work, Inzaghi has shaped the team into a truly formidable unit, and Beccalossi has appreciated this.

“This summer everything seemed negative and black,” he said. “From the Scudetto to the departures of Conte, Lukaku, and Hakimi.”

“The fans seemed resigned to a transitional season,” he went on, ” but instead, when you have the right men in the right places, great results come with effort.”

Beccalossi stated that “What is most striking is the incredible work done by the club and the directors in a short time: Marotta and Ausilio have settled the accounts but at the same time have kept the level of the team very high.”

“The club have done very well in entrusting the new project to Inzaghi and in replacing those who left with very high-quality players such as Dzeko, Calhanoglu, and Dumfries,” he added

“And then the work always pays off and I must say that Simone and his staff together with the players have done something extraordinary in a very short time,” the former midfielder emphasized.

Beccalossi stated that “Inter have grown a lot and today they always give the impression of being able to control every game, against any opponent.”

“The team is very strong and all the players are a part of it,” he added.

“And then look at Brozo,” Beccalossi stated, “he will never have the ability of Messi, but the work he does for the team is extraordinary. He has become a true leader, a driving force.”
