Former Inter defender Daniele Adani feels that current Nerazzurri man Federico Dimarco deserves inclusion in the Italian national team’s squad for the current international break.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the former defender emphasized the view that Dimarco would merit a call-up to Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri team for the World Cup qualifying playoffs.

Dimarco had been called up to the Azzurri’s squad for the November international break, but this time around was not included in the squad list.

However, Adani feels that the 24-year-old’s form in a Nerazzurri shirt would have been enough to merit inclusion in the squad as a defensive option as Italy face a vital playoff round.

“Dimarco isn’t in the squad, but I think he would have deserved it,” Adani said of the defender.

Adani also spoke about the call-up of Stefano Sensi, who Italy coach Roberto Mancini decided to include in the squad even though he has not received significant playing time this season.

According to the former defender, this shows that Mancini has faith in the quality of the 26-year-old.

“Sensi was in the squad for the European Championships, but then he got injured and Pessina was called up instead,” he said. “But Mancini holds him in high regard and is still putting his faith in him.”
