Ex-Nerazzurri Defender Daniele Adani: “Christian Eriksen Irreplaceable For Inter Who Must Learn To Cope With Adversity” | OneFootball

Former Inter defender Daniele Adani believes that Inter have lost an important player in the form of midfielder Christian Eriksen who is absent for health reasons.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, Adani gave the view that the Danish midfielder is harder to replace in the Nerazzurr’s squad than summer departures Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi.

Eriksen did not immediately settle into life at Inter upon his move from Tottenham Hotspur in January of 2020, taking time to become a player who featured regularly.

However, during the second half of last season he became a fixture in the starting eleven as the team went on a run to win the Scudetto.

The Dane’s form and recognition for his club made the health emergency at the Euros which ruled him out of football all the more unfortunate, and Adani believes that he is a big loss for the Nerazzurri.

“Since last year the team has changed three players substantially and of these three the only one who is not replaceable is Eriksen,” he opined. “None of those in the squad comes close to the Dane. Last year, when Inter had Eriksen fit, he broke apart Milan, he is the player who sets the tempo and simplifies your moves.”

“But in my opinion the first thing Inter need to recover is the ability to stay in the game even in difficult situations,” he went on.

“Against Real Madrid the game looked to be headed towards a draw, instead they conceded a goal made by two kids,” he went on. “The same thing happened against Lazio.”

He explained that “Even when they play well, Inter must be more overwhelming, more dominant. They do not have that wickedness and ruthlessness that they had last year, when they smelled blood.”

He also weighed in on the controversy around Lazio’s second goal on the weekend, stating that “Beyond Dimarco on the ground, they fell asleep. Inter conceded a five-on-two situation. Surely if I had passed next to a player on the ground, I would have put the ball out because this is and was me as a player. Then maybe I would have insulted him later if I had understood that he was pretending.”
