Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zielinski has suffered a major injury blow.

The Poland international suffered a calf injury in Saturday’s Serie A match against Monza. This will rule him out for some number of weeks.

Zielinski underwent medical tests yesterday. These confirmed a strain in the medial gastrocnemius muscle of the 30-year-old’s right calf.

One thing that’s clear is that Zielinski will miss Inter’s next two matches. They face Feyenoord in a Champions League round of sixteen today, and then Atalanta in Serie A next weekend.

Then, there is the international break.

But Zielinski will not just be back shortly after the break.

On the contrary, the recovery timeline for Zielinski’s injury could be as long as 45-60 days. He could be on the sidelines for as long as two months.

That means that Piotr Zielinski will be unavailable for much or all of April.

Therefore, the Pole will miss any Champions League quarterfinal tie, if Inter are to see out their advantage against Feyenoord this evening.

The Nerazzurri can face either Bayern Munich or Bayer Leverkusen in the next round.

Meanwhile, Zielinski will also likely be unavailable for both legs of Inter’s Coppa Italia semifinal tie against city rivals AC Milan.

And then in the league, the former Napoli midfielder should miss 5-6 matches.
