The former Benfica and Monaco striker told Fotbollskanalen: "Osterlen presented a good proposal. Considering that I had not played for a long time, they gave me an opportunity to come back and to do what I like most - to play football.

"I thought it was a good opportunity for me. And Sweden is one of the places I have always been interested in playing in. I checked out the team, did my research and came to the conclusion that this was a good opportunity for me. An opportunity I wanted to take."

Adu hadn't played since 2018 when with Las Vegas Lights of the USL.

"I have never been more motivated. Do you know why? I have experienced what it is like to be at both the top and the bottom and I have taken a lot for granted in life. And I have realised how much I have missed football, being in a locker room, having teammates around me, preparing for training and matches.

"I will never take it for granted again. This opportunity is great for me. I am expectant and long to come to Österlen and start playing."
