Alex McLeish has claimed Fabio Paratici’s first job at Tottenham will be to sort out Harry Kane’s future.

The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted striking a deal for the 27-year-old to stay or go would be the 48-year-old’s “biggest task” of the summer.

As reported by Football Insider on Tuesday (8th June), Paratici has agreed a three-year contract to become Spurs’ new director of football.

This site also broke the news in April that Kane has told friends he wants to quit Tottenham this summer.

The Sun claim Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has set a £150million price tag on the striker’s head.

McLeish suggested sorting out Kane’s future would be first on Paratici’s to-do list.

“I think the biggest job for him is that Harry Kane wants to leave,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“That will be his first task. It’s whether they decide on a fee for Harry and somebody has the money to buy him. Daniel’s quote is £150million or something.

“That is the new chief’s first big task. Regardless of him, fans don’t really get overexcited at the football directors or sporting directors. They just want to know who the manager’s going to be.”

Kane still has three years left on his contract in north London.

Paratici is set to join Spurs after 11 years working in a variety of executive roles with Juventus.

He left the Italian giants at the end of his contract earlier this year.
