Ex-Man Utd star Anderson charged for role in crypto fraud ring

Former Manchester United midfielder Anderson is being charged with alleged cryptocurrency fraud.

According to Brazilian newspaper Globo, the ex-Premier League star is among eight people being investigated by a state prosecutor.

Possible charges could include aggravated theft, money laundering, and fraud.

The group supposedly used cryptocurrency to launder up to £4.7 million from the stock exchange.

Anderson's lawyer Julio Cezar Coitinho Junior told Globo: "We have not been summoned. It is hard to talk right now.

"There is an investigation under way. Anderson has said he is aware.

"But Anderson is going to prove he was a victim, not an accomplice. That is his position."
