Former Manchester United goalkeeper Massimo Taibi says he received a lot of support from Sir Alex Ferguson during his time at the club.

Ferguson is known for his infamous "hairdryer treatment" of players when they were not performing up to his high standards.

Taibi, who came to United in 1999 to replace legendary keeper Peter Schmeichel, struggled to make the grade at the club.

He made four appearances, performed poorly, and eventually went to Reggina in Italy.

Speaking about a huge error he made against Southampton from a Matt Le Tissier shot, Taibi told Dream Team: "He put his arm around me and told me not to worry and that these things happen.

"For me, that wasn't a terrible error as such, certainly not something to label you with for life, it was just one of those things which can happen to goalkeepers.

"I've seen plenty in England and Italy, believe me; going through the legs, it looks ridiculous, but it happens often. It's not the first, it wasn't the last."
