Paul Parker think some Cristiano Ronaldo “fanboys” are a “disgrace” for “throwing mud” at new Man Utd signing Wout Weghorst.

Ronaldo argeed with the Red Devils to terminate his contract at Old Trafford at the end of November after his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

Man Utd had to wait until January to bring in reinforcements up front with only Marcus Rashford and an injury-prone Anthony Martial as their main striker options.

But former Man Utd defender Paul Parker thinks some Red Devils fans have been “too harsh” on Weghorst despite the Netherlands international only playing three times so far and scoring one goal.

Parker told Soccernews: “I think that people have been too harsh towards Wout Weghorst. He has only played three games and it’s way too early to judge him.

“But it is Man United and you are going to be judged. Every single player is under a massive pressure and they have to handle that 24 hours a day.

“And people have to remember that he is not a Ronaldo. Ronaldo was a better footballer but this guy is offering something different. He works hard and he wants to help the club.

“But all the Ronaldo fanboys are just throwing mud at the idiom, which is a disgrace. They should want the club to have success and not only think about their hero who has a new life in a league that only his fans care about.”

Parker added: “Also, remember that Weghorst needs to adapt to playing in England again. He just arrived here from the European China, which is what Turkey is in terms of football.

“The Turkish league is a graveyard league where players go if they want to have a vacation or earn money.”

Parker believes the partnership forming between Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez has been important for Man Utd this season with Varane managing to stay fit a lot more this season.

The former Man Utd defender continued: “Raphael Varane has definitely made a difference for this Man United team. He is a very good player and Man United looks way better when he is on the pitch. He gives so much confidence to his teammates.

“Varane and Lisandro Martinez really seem to understand each other. Everything they are doing ends up being done with success. And it is a very good sign that people never mention Varane because it proves that he does his job as a centre-half.
