Former Manchester United academy starlet Isak Hansen-Aarøen is reportedly on the brink of leaving Werder Bremen due to a lack of playing time.
Hansen-Aarøen permanently parted ways with United on transfer deadline day of the winter window and sealed a switch to Werder Bremen.
United made several attempts to try and tie him down to fresh terms but as it became increasingly clear he wouldn’t put pen to paper on a deal, the decision was made to allow him to leave.
He joined the Red Devils in August 2020 but failed to make a single first-team appearance. Hansen-Aarøen was rated very highly at Carrington and was even included at the start of the club’s 2023/24 pre-season tour, featuring in matches vs. Leeds United and Lyon.
It appeared it was only a matter of time until he broke into the United first team but ultimately decided to seek a fresh adventure elsewhere.
He hasn’t had the best time at Werder Bremen. Last term, he made just three Bundesliga appearances, all of which came from the bench. He managed just 25 minutes of action.
This season so far, Hansen-Aarøen has not tasted even a single minute of action and has had to be content with a place on the bench.
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, there is a chance that the Norwegian will leave Werder Bremen in January to try and salvage his career.
“Isak Hansen-Aarøen is a candidate to leave Werder Bremen in the upcoming winter transfer window.”
“The 20y/o attacking midfielder has yet to see any playing time this season.”
“Werder is open to a loan move for the former Manchester United academy player in winter.”
Meanwhile, United return to Premier League action later today when they host Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea at Old Trafford.
