Ex-Lazio Midfielder Dario Marcolin: “The Real Difficulty For Inter Will Be Replacing Ivan Perisic”

Former Lazio, Sampdoria, and Napoli midfielder Dario Marcolin believes that Ivan Perisic will be the most difficult player for Inter to replace this summer after he departed for Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster CalcioToday, Marcolin argued that it will be the 33-year-old who proves to be the player whose influence is most difficult to replicate despite the fact that he left on a free transfer.
Inter are all but certain to make a big name sale this summer, with defender Milan Skriniar currently looking to be the player closest to an exit amid reports that Paris Saint-Germain will make a huge bid for him.
Replacing a player of Skriniar’s calibre is never easy, but it is worth remembering that a key player from the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven has already left the club, with Perisic having turned down a contract extension offer to leave for the Premier League.
Perisic had been one of the Nerazzurri’s outstanding players during the season just gone, with many viewing him as having been their very best, and even with Robin Gosens waiting in the wings to become the starter on the left, maintaining the standard of performances left by the Croat will not be easy.
“The real difficulty for the Nerazzurri will be replacing Ivan Perisic and his assists,” Marcolin argued. “He was wingbacl, but he was also like a striker. Robin Gosens is very good, but he thinks more like a midfielder than like a left winger.”
