Former Lazio goalkeeper Fernando Orsi believes that Roma must be wary of Inter’s counterattacking ability in tomorrow’s Serie A clash at the Stadio Olimpico.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster RadioRadio Mattino, the 62-year-old emphasized that the match will be a difficult one for the Giallorossi, and suggested that their best gameplan will be to deny the Nerazzurri space in which to break quickly.

Inter have shown in recent matches against Venezia and Spezia that they are capable of controlling matches effectively with the majority of the ball.

However, Simone Inzgahi has also set up his team to be ruthless when countering at pace, and this could prove to be a key tactical consideration for Roma manager Jose Mourinho.

Rather than a battle for possession, the match could see the two teams looking to establish the right conditions to use their pace on the break, though Orsi believes that it is Inter who can be particularly dangerous in this respect.

“Tomorrow will be a very difficult match for Roma,” he stated, “they need great character, they have to stay back  and not allow Inter space.”

He added that “Inter are a scary team, Roma will need to play a game of great sacrifice, they need the result, if you try and impose your game Inter will kill you.”
