Inter Milan forward Joaquin Correa is in line to start against Roma in Serie A today, although the strong recent form of Lautaro Martinez could put this in doubt.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport, as reported via Milan based Inter Milan news-site FcInterNews.

According to the report, the former Lazio attacker will partner Chelsea owned Romelu Lukaku at the Stadio Olimpico in what could prove to be a pivotal match in the race for Champions League qualification.

With Inter set to face city rivals AC Milan in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie on Wednesday, it is deemed highly unlikely that Correa will be entrusted with a starting spot against the Rossoneri.

As such, he will be given the opportunity to impress against Roma, whilst also allowing Martinez and Edin Dzeko to rest ahead of the European clash.

Martinez has been in fine form in recent games and is considered a guarantee in the starting line-up against Milan, paving the way for Correa to face Roma.

Elsewhere, Andre Onana will return in goal, whilst Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij are competing to join Matteo Darmian and Alessandro Bastoni in defence.

Ex-Roma midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to be rested, so the central trio will be made up of Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella, and Marcelo Brozovic.
