Former Lazio, Atalanta, and Sampdoria head coach Delio Rossi believes that the top four sides in Serie A have an advantage in the Scudetto race but there is still some way before anything decisive will be seen.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, the former coach gave the view that it will only be in the last months of the season that the title race will be clarified, though he mentioned that the top four sides are the ones with the clear edge.

Inter have recently tightened the gap at the top of the Serie A table, to one point from AC Milan and two from Napoli having at one point been seven points behind both of their rivals.

Meanwhile, Atalanta have also crept back into the Scudetto picture, sitting three points behind the Nerazzurri having also gone on a very positive run after a start in which they dropped a few points.

Rossi believes that all of these teams still have a few months in which they must prove themselves and pull away from the rest of the teams, but that it is these four who hold the advantage.

“Titles are decided after March,” the former coach explained, “but the teams in the top four certainly have the advantage. Atalanta are definitely candidates.”
