A former Serie A defender has suggested that Inter are still one of the favourites to lift the title this season despite their difficult summer transfer window, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with TMW Radio, with quotes reported by FCInter1908, Vittorio Pusceddu explained that Inter have more ways to attack certain games now than they did under Antonio Conte, where the ball always had to go through Romelu Lukaku.

“Yes, it remains one of the favourites. At the game I saw a better balance than what we saw with Conte, where the ball was only for Lukaku, who then made the difference.

“I saw Inter who play more football. They are among the favourites, but there will be a great fight up front. I also see Rome, Lazio, Naples, Atalanta, Milan doing well.”

The player who Vittorio Pusceddu seems to think could be next to leave Inter after the high profile departures of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku is Nicolo Barella.

The Italy midfielder has cemented himself as one of the best in Europe now and Vittoria Pusceddu thinks he will be chased by many teams next summer.

“He’s a guy who always tries to improve, I think that by continuing to play like this I think he will be coveted by many important teams.

“Maybe next year we will find him as a key player in the transfer market. He still has a lot to express. He is only 24 years old.”

Liverpool are one team that were regularly linked with the Sardinian midfielder this summer but no move materialised.
