Former Inter winger Francesco Moriero has said that Inter must always aim to win the Scudetto and that he knows of a good replacement for Denzel Dumfries, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

Speaking during an interview with Tuttosport, the former Inter and Lecce man emphasised that the objective for the Nerazzurri is to always win the scudetto and they will be battling with AC Milan and Juventus this season.

“Every year they have to play to win the Scudetto. The Nerazzurri will play for the championship with Milan and Juventus. All three teams are obliged to aim for the tricolour, it’s mathematical.

“Lukaku? A lot of stuff, he will make a difference at Inter and in Serie A. With Lautaro he will form a formidable pair.”

The coach certainly wants Milan Skriniar to remain at the club his summer and he thinks the defence staying together can be key for Inter.

“It is the club that decides, also taking into account other issues. However, if the defence remains the same as last year, it is a proven department.”

Talking specifically about the possible departure of Denzel Dumfries from the back line, Francesco Moriero suggested that Lazio wingback Manuel Lazzari would be the ideal replacement for the Dutchman.

“Great player. Lazzari is an underestimated player, I’ve always liked him: he has a lot of running and excellent ideas.

“But on that side there’s also Bellanova. I believe a lot in this guy: he has drive, technique, dribbling, important skills. In my opinion he’s a player who will have a great future. Inter will have to bet on him.”

Denzel Dumfries is being heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer and it could happen late in the window.
