Ex-Inter President Ernesto Pellegrini: “Romelu Lukaku The Best Centre-Forward In The World, Happy To Have Him Back” | OneFootball

Legendary former Inter President Ernesto Pellegrini believes that at the moment Romelu Lukaku is the top striker in world football.

Speaking to Italian new outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Pellegrini gave his thoughts on the imminent return of the Belgian, who he believes is the best player in his position right now, and is extremely happy to see back at the Nerazzurri.

Some doubts will have been raised about Lukaku’s qualities following his difficult spell in the Premier League with Chelsea over the past season, but the Belgian’s two seasons with Inter left little to find fault with.

The 29-year-old left Serie A as one of the most effective strikers not just in the Italian top flight but in all of Europe, and the Nerazzurri will be hoping that he can pick up where he left off when he wears the shirt once again next season.

Pellegrini, for his part, has little reservations that the return will be a success.

“All of us Interisti are happy for his return,” he said. “For me he’s the best centre-forward in the world. I can’t think of a better one.”

He went on that “Out of players from my Inter, he reminds me of Aldo Serena, a striker who can get in behind and has a great sense for the goal.”

“For the Scudetto we must also see how the other teams strengthen,” Pellegrini said, “from Juve to Milan. It’s premature to say, there are also Napoli and Roma, and we need to see how they bolster their teams. It’s too early for predictions and rankings.”

Regarding a possible move for Paulo Dybala, the former President said that “I don’t know, personally I’m a bit undecided. I don’t know his demands and whether he wants to join.”

He added that “I can’t give an in-depth opinion. Anyway, I like all the great players.”

And regarding a possible sale of defender Milan Skriniar, he said that “I’m sorry to see him go, not just me but everyone will be if he leaves, but maybe it’s also inevitable.”
