Former Inter Milan midfielder Cesare Casadei is hoping to make his Premier League debut with Chelsea eventually.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Cronache di Spogliatoio, via FCInterNews, the 20-year-old gave his thoughts on the process of settling in in English football more than a year on from his transfer to Stamford Bridge from the Nerazzurri.

Last summer, Inter sold Casadei to Chelsea.

The young midfielder had yet to make an appearance for Inter’s senior team, or in senior football in general.

Nevertheless, the Blues paid a significant transfer fee to sign Casadei.

This was a reflection of the fact that the young midfielder had been one of the shining lights in Inter’s Primavera side. He had also been shining for the Italian national team at various youth team levels.

Chelsea had been reportedly keen on signing Casadei for some time before they finally managed to wrap up a deal.

Meanwhile, Inter were reportedly somewhat reluctant to allow Casadei to leave. Only the need to raise cash from the transfer market due to their financial situation convinced the Nerazzurri to allow the player to leave.

Cesare Casadei Says He Wants To Make Premier League Debut With Chelsea

So far, Casadei has yet to make an appearance for Chelsea’s senior team.

That is not much of a surprise considering he hadn’t yet played for Inter. The Blues had brought Casadei in as more of a long-term signing.

Casadei made appearances for Chelsea at youth team level.

Then last January, the former Nerazzurri man joined Reading on loan.

This time around, the 20-year-old is back in the Championship. He joined Leicester City on loan during the summer transfer window.

Casadei said that “I learned about Chelsea’s interest from an Instagram post.”

“I didn’t know if there was anything concrete to it or not.”

“It took some time to wrap up the negotiations,” Casadei continued.

“I see myself well here in England,” he explained. “In the summer there was a possibility of returning to Italy, but along with Chelsea we felt that staying was the best solution to allow me to grow further.”

“In the last year they’ve invested a lot in young players,” Casadei noted of the Blues. “They want to build a long-term project.”

“I see myself here in England. And I hope to make my debut in the Premier League with Chelsea, even as early as next season.”
