Former Nerazzurri and Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan feels that Inter Milan are still “the strongest team in Serie A.”

The Belgian spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews. He also argued Lautaro Martinez isn’t quite worthy of the Ballon D’Or.

Nainggolan spent three seasons under contract with Inter.

However, the Belgian made a total of just 41 appearances for the Nerazzurri. Almost all of these came in his first season with the club, the 2018-19 campaign.

Nainggolan actually spent the majority of his time as an Inter player on loan at Cagliari.

There were certainly some good performances and memorable moments from Nainggolan in an Inter shirt.

However, the fact remained that the Belgian never produced the same kind of form for Inter that he had across several seasons with Roma.

Radja Nainggolan: “Inter Milan The Strongest Team In Serie A”

Nainggolan gave his thoughts on his former team. “Inter are the strongest team in Serie A,’ he said.

“They play good football. And they also have great players on the bench.”

“In fact, the players on the bench are good enough to be starters,” he argued.

Nainggolan said that Inter “are superior to Roma, particularly with the tough moment that the Giallorossi are in.”

But Nainggolan isn’t assuming that Inter will beat his old team Roma this evening. “Because Roma are playing at home, and they have the best support out there,” he argued.

“And with those fans behind them, they get an extra push.”

“Of course, it’s a team that’s rebuilding itself,” Nainggolan said of Roma.

“They have new players, and a coach who’s not inheriting a whole lot.”

Meanwhile, Nainggolan also gave his thoughts on whether Inter captain would be worthy of the Ballon D’Or.

“He’s a great player,” the Belgian said of Martinez. “I already saw it in his first season at Inter when he was still behind Icardi.”

“He’s among the best players out there in terms of quality,” Nainggolan said of the Inter captain.

“But to win that trophy you’re competing with players like Haaland, Mbappe, Vinicius.”

“Look at the latter – he’s won everything.”

“In my opinion, those players are ahead of Lautaro,” Nainggolan said.
