Former Inter defender Daniele Adani believes that the Nerazzurri have the strongest squad in Serie A, but hardly looked like it in their Serie A draw against Sampdoria.
Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, via FCInterNews, the former defender criticized the Nerazzurri’s performance at the Marassi on the basis that they failed to get the better of a considerably weaker opponent on paper.
The fact that Inter had to settle for a point away to Sampdoria was certainly not the outcome that would have been suggested by the form of the two teams or their placement in the table.
Moreover, the Nerazzurri squad can certainly boast the level of quality needed to get wins from matches against teams lower in the table, at least on paper.
In Adani’s view, there is little excuse, and Inter should be one of the strongest teams in Serie A along with Juventus if just going by the quality of their squad.
“Why do Inter play well in certain matches and then play drop points against Monza, Empoli, Sampdoria?” the former defender posed.
“Sometimes I think their approach is lightweight,” he continued.
“They have the strongest squad in the league along with Juventus, yet they’re miles behind Napoli.”
“They have quality and a team that’s been together for years, yet they look hesitant in these matches,” Adani went on.
“Against Empoli, even before Skriniar’s red card, the approach was tentative,” he said, “Inter were never dangerous.”
“Then against Monza, they could have conceded the equalizer long before they did.”
Adani said of the draw against Sampdoria that “Inter could have played for a week and they still wouldn’t have scored.”
