Former striker Hernan Crespo feels certain that “top professional” Mehdi Taremi can bring a lot to Inter Milan next season.
The former Nerazzurri, Chelsea, and Argentina striker praised the Iranian in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter have made a major signing in attack this summer in the form of Taremi.
The Nerazzurri had already tried to bring the Iranian in last summer. However, they balked at Porto’s asking price, so he stayed in Portugal.
However, Inter never lost their interest in signing Taremi.
On the contrary, the Nerazzurri continued to follow the Iranian. Particularly given the fact that his contract situation meant that he was available on a free transfer this summer.
Taremi is far from the first big name player Inter have signed on a free transfer.
That is also the route via which all of Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Andre Onana, and Marcus Thuram have arrived at the Nerazzurri. As has Piotr Zielinski this summer.
Therefore, there is no doubt that Inter see free transfer signings as a key part of their strategy in the market.
Part of the reason for that is financial. But as the performances of players Inter have signed on free transfers over the last few seasons demonstrates, it’s not just that.
Clearly, Inter have signed Taremi because they believe he can genuinely improve their team on the pitch.
Former Inter, Lazio, and Parma striker Crespo called Taremi “A good signing.”
“Taremi has international experience,” the Argentine continued.
“He’s come from a club where he’s gained a lot of knowledge and improved a lot in Porto.”
“He can make a major contribution to Inter,” Crespo predicted.
The former striker called Taremi “A striker who knows how to finish off a team move. But also to participate in buildup.”
“And he can also have his say with headers.”
As far as Taremi’s integration into the Inter squad, Crespo anticipated that “Good players are always welcome. And he’s a top professional.”
