Ex-Bayern Munich Chairman and legendary former Bayern and Inter striker Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes that Man City starting as favourites in the Champions League final can help Inter Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio 2, via FCInterNews, Rummingge gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s status as underdogs in next month’s final in Istanbul.

Inter are less than two weeks from facing off against City in the Champions League final.

The Nerazzurri will be well aware that they face perhaps the most formidable challenge of their entire season against the Cityzens.

Under Pep Guardiola, City have played an at-times unstoppable brand of football.

This has allowed the English side to dominate domestically for the past several years. And, while they have yet to win the Champions League under the Spaniard, many regard it as only a matter of time.

City thrashed Real Madrid by a 4-0 scoreline in the semifinal second leg to their place in the final.

Whilst there is no guarantee that this will also happen to Inter, they will surely be wary. If the Premier League champions can do that to the Champions League holders, they must surely be feared.

Rummenigge: Inter Milan Can Benefit From Underdog Status Vs Man City

Asked which out of Inter, Roma, and Fiorentina are most likely to win their respective European final, Rummenigge replied that “On paper, all three can win. But the one that probably has the best chance is Roma, who have a specialist on the bench.”

“But Fiorentina can also win,” he continued. “Inter are not favourites, but I see that as an advantage.”

“They can take to the pitch knowing full well that they’ve had a great season,” he said of the Nerazzurri.

“They’re a tactically well set up team, especially in attack with Lautaro Martinez, Romelu Lukaku, Edin Dzeko, players who can hurt any opponent.”
