Former Inter midfielder Borja Valero has said that AC Milan have worked well as a club and had a great season in 2021/22.

The Spaniard clearly has a lot of admiration for the new Serie A champions which he exhibited during a golf charity event (via Milan News).

Milan clinched the title after beating Sassuolo 3-0 on the final day of the season at the Mapei Stadium.

Speaking about the club as a whole, Valero is impressed by the changes under the ownership of Elliott Management.

“The club worked well, lowering wages but also creating a great symbiosis between the team and the fans and it was not easy. They have had a great championship,” Valero said.

The club was in dire straits when the American hedge fund operator took over after some serious financial mismanagement. To then win the Serie A title somewhat ahead of schedule is very impressive.

As for his former club Inter, Valero says the atmosphere at San Siro for their 3-0 win over Sampdoria was impressive.

“For Inter it could have ended a little better, also because the atmosphere at San Siro was crazy even after they learned of Milan’s victory,” he said.

Valero played for Inter between 2017 and 2020. He is now playing at Lebowski in the sixth tier of Italian football.
