Former Inter midfielder Fulvio Collovati believes that the Nerazzurri remain as strong as they were last season when they won the Scudetto.

Speaking to the program Domenica Sportiva on Italian broadcaster Rai Radio, the former midfielder gave his thoughts on the state of his former club and suggested that major changes over the summer have not caused them to become significantly weaker.

Inter enjoyed their best form in many seasons last campaign, capturing the Scudetto for the first time in eleven years, but the summer transfer window was one of upheaval, seeing the departure of head coach Antonio Conte and key players Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku.

These changed led to some speculation that the Nerazzurri would not be able to keep up the pace that they set for themselves last season under new had coach Simone Inzaghi, but Collovati believes that there is every bit as much quality within the club as there was last season.

“This is an Inter that has changed in personnel but not weakened,” he said. “They have been good, they have not weakened.”

On the summer signings he said, “Dumfries is replacing Hakimi in a great way, Dzeko is scopring – they are the better team than all the others, and are demonstrating how well they can express themselves. Inzaghi has also recovered Vecino, a player forgotten by Conte.”
