Inter’s performance during Sunday’s derby against AC Milan was proof they have become a mature team, according to the Nerazzurri’s former defender Daniele Adani.

Antonio Conte’s side blitzed their city rivals to record a crushing 3-0 win at San Siro, opening up a four-point gap over the Rossoneri at the top of Serie A.

Inter have won 13 of their last 16 league games and are most people’s favourites to lift the Scudetto in May.

“There are lots of matches within the same game,” Adani explained to Italian radio station Radio Deejay today.

“You have to know how to do the right things and make the right runs, you need to be able to manage the other team’s periods of possession and know when to counterattack.

“I think it’s a sign of maturity, as long as it doesn’t mean you always sit back without trying to attack.”

Ivan Perisic and Christian Eriksen have received plenty of attention from the Italian media this week after their excellent performances against Stefano Pioli’s side.

Both are becoming key players for Conte as Inter charge towards the title and Adani praised the the Nerazzurri boss for seeing the error of his ways with them.

“Conte is a coach who has proven he can discard and recycle all players,” Adani continued.

“Perisic and Eriksen could have been big players on the transfer market and now they’re both key players for Inter.”

A report in Wednesday’s papers claimed Perisic had won Conte back over by showing leadership and humility qualities.

Conte, meanwhile, was urged by Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand to build his side around Eriksen after the 29-year-old’s recent encouraging performances.
