The Italian defender joined the Nerazzurri back in 2011 and has been a very loyal servant for the team. His contract ran out at the end of the previous campaign and it was decided by him and the club that he should move on to a new challenge where he can play more regularly.

He has opted to sign for newly-promoted side Monza and he will be an important player there.

“It was emotional to leave the Nerazzurri jersey with its load of affection, friends and memories. But the time had come for a change. I am very happy to be here.

“You can feel the desire to build something important. Just look at the work being done at the sports centre in Monzello to improve the facility. Every day there is a new idea. Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani have won everything in football.”

He also talked about how good he thinks that Alessandro Bastoni is going to be in the future for Inter.

“He is promising (he jokes) and we hope more will come up for the national team. Bastoni has the possibility of becoming very strong.”
