Former Fiorentina, Bayern Munich, and Hellas Verona striker Luca Toni believes that Inter underestimated the difficulty of facing Bologna on Sunday, and that they were not concentrating on the task at hand enough.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, the former striker suggested that these lapses in concentration have become a real theme for the Nerazzurri.

Inter had a slight edge in terms of possession at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Sunday afternoon, but in truth looked very laboured with the ball as it was the Rossoblu who constructed more menacing attacks when they were in possession.

The Nerazzurri always looked half a second off the pace in terms of their passes and decision-making, accounting for their failure to find the back of the net or even create many real chances to do so.

From the perspective of former striker Toni, the issue was that the team were not fully prepared for how tough the match was going to be, and were not totally switched on.

“Inter thought that Bologna was going to be a walk in the park,” he suggested, “and then they found that they were facing a tough team.”

“I think that’s become a real problem for them this season,” he added, “they have this tendency to lose their focus, they struggle to stay concentrated.”
