Midfielder Davy Klaassen is in talks to join Antwerp following a quiet end to his stint at Inter Milan last season.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Klaassen was a surprise signing for Inter last season.
The Dutchman arrived on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Ajax.
However, the Nerazzurri had spent the last couple of days of last summer transfer window searching for a low-cost midfield signing who could bolster the squad depth.
The departure of Roberto Gagliardini and the regular injuries to Stefano Sensi meant that Inter did not feel that they were well-equipped for the full fixture list.
And Klaassen proved to be an opportunity for the Nerazzurri to seize.
Former Everton and Werder Bremen midfielder Klaassen was a player who certainly brought experience to Inter.
There were few doubts about the player the Nerazzurri were getting.
Klaassen is a full Dutch international. He provided technical quality, as well as a fairly reliable fitness record.
Therefore, Inter decided to bring Klaassen in as a surprise coda to their transfer window.
The Nerazzurri only signed Klaassen on a one-year deal.
There was an option for Inter to extend the Dutchman’s deal by a further season. However, they decided against it, as he had been a peripheral figure and they had signed Piotr Zielinski this summer.
The 31-year-old is still in search of a new club.
But according to Tuttosport, there is one club in particular who Klaassen is in talks with.
Belgian side Royal Antwerp are aiming to sign the Dutchman. However, Tuttosport report, there is some disagreement on the duration of a deal, as the midfielder wants a two-year contract.
