The weak financial conditions of FC Barcelona mean the Catalans will have to generate a significant amount of income before being able to make their desired additions in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Thus, Barcelona will have to sell some of its important players, while also finding clubs for some of the players currently out on loan. Furthermore, if things go their way, the Catalans can also get some money from transfers of players on whom they have some percentage of rights.

One such player who has been linked to different clubs in the last few months, and who looks highly likely to change his team in the coming summer is the French defender Jean Claire Tobido. Now, as SPORT has reported, another team has entered the race for him, which can benefit Barcelona in another operation.

The report mentions that the Spanish club Atletico Madrid is now considering Tobido as a priority option for the reinforcement of their defense. However, the Mattress Makers still have to negotiate with Nice, who consider the defender a key part of their team.

Still, if a transfer is finalized for the defender, Barcelona will have a right to 20% of any fee paid for him. The Blaugranes can use this amount to lower the cost of Joao Felix, whom the Catalans want to retain beyond his current loan period.

But as things stand, the two La Liga clubs still have to arrive at an agreement on several aspects of Felix’s proposed move. For instance, Atletico Madrid want a full transfer, but Barcelona cannot afford to pay a high sum for a player of Felix’s stature, and would be looking for another loan this summer.

Thus, if Barcelona are to end up retaining the 24-year-old Portuguese forward this summer, the French defender can end up playing an important part in this operation.
