Former Chievo Verona coach Giancarlo Romairone believes that all four of Inter, AC Milan, Juventus, and Napoli looked like they were at close to top form in their opening Serie A matches.
Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Romairone gave the view that all four of the top four from last season’s Serie A table had impressed in their early outings, even before possible new arrivals in the transfer market before the window closes are factored in.
Inter needed a last-gasp winner by Denzel Dumfries to ovecome Lecce in their first match of the Serie A season, whilst the likes of Milan, Napoli, and Juventus all won by more emphatic scorelines.
However, all four teams looked like they are prepared to dominate possession and pile on the pressure against most of their opponents for the season, which could well be a sign that a closely-fought title race between strong contenders lies ahead.
“Milan started strong right off the bat,” Romairone said. “The same can be said of Inter, Juve, and Napoli. And this is before the teams can be completed in the transfer market.”
