Former Brescia midfielder Alessandro Budel believes that Inter have gotten themselves back into the Scudetto race with their recent form.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, the 40-year-old gave the view that the Nerazzurri’s performances over the past few weeks have seen them bring themselves right back into title contention.

The Nerazzurri fell behind in the Scudetto race during the early phases of the season, with city rivals AC Milan as well as Napoli both racing to seven-point advantages in the table over the reigning Serie A champions.

However, with yesterday’s results, the Nerazzurri overtook the Partenopei in the standings, while also having reduced the deficit from the Rossoneri to only a point in the past couple weeks.

Inter have done this by showing their best and most consistent form of the season at the same time that their major rivals have begun to show fragility.

Budel stated that “As far as the Scudetto, Napoli has shown something special, while Milan have also been having a season far above expectations.”

“Now Inter have forced their way back into the running but they are all in it,” he added. “The two points lost against Sassuolo weigh heavily on Napoli because those are the kinds of matches that must be won at all costs.”
