Two miracle saves by Yann Sommer against Udinese could prove to be decisive for Inter Milan in the Serie A title race.
The 36-year-old’s heroics in yesterday’s 2-1 win are hailed across the player ratings in Italian media, as highlighted by FCInterNews.
Goalkeeper Yann Sommer didn’t have much work to do in the first half against Udinese.
However, the Swiss is used to this.
Since he arrived at Inter Milan from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, Sommer has often faced matches in which he has been a virtual spectator.
But that makes it all the more important that Sommer remain ready to make his contribution when it becomes necessary.

In the first half yesterday, Inter protected Sommer’s goal as a team. They very much had the look of Serie A title favourites.
But the second half saw the Nerazzurri come under enormous pressure.
Inter conceded once – to an Oumar Solet screamer.
And after that, there was a real onslaught on the Nerazzurri goal.
Therefore, it could very well have ended in a draw. And that certainly would have been a hugely damaging result for Inter’s title ambitions.
But Yann Sommer had other ideas.
The Swiss made a spectacular acrobatic stop on a Lorenzo Lucca header. Then, he prevented Solet from scoring a second, from a set piece late on.
And at the end of the season, those two saves may well end up looking like key moments in the title race.
