Ex-Barcelona star backs Man City’s Rodri for Ballon d’Or | OneFootball

A one-time member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week backed Manchester City star Rodri to lift the Ballon d’Or.

The subject of the upcoming Ballon d’Or has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines across Europe over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes after the shortlist of nominees to be named world football’s standout player was unveiled.

As things stand, the favourite for the prize is Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr, with fellow Real Madrid stars Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal also in the running.

As alluded to above, though, one individual of the opinion that the ‘Golden Ball’ should make its way to England, and specifically Manchester, is Sergio Agüero.

Taking to his official X account this week, former Barcelona and Manchester City frontman Agüero threw his backing behind current Sky Blues midfielder Rodri:

‘A perfect year, you deserve it. Come on Rodri’
