Speaking in an interview on ‘El 10 del Barça’ (h/t SPORT), former Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Majo has controversially claimed that he would sell La Masia duo Gavi and Pau Cubarsi if significant offers were to arrive.

Majo, who was a candidate for the Barcelona presidency in 2003 and a pre-candidate in 2015, believes that the club can produce replacements for both Gavi and Cubarsi through the youth ranks and must not disregard lucrative offers.

“Barça must sell high and buy low. That’s easy to say, but it’s not difficult to do. Barça must be a seller as long as it buys well. Good offers should not be disregarded,” he remarked.

Continuing, he added: “Gavi? If an offer of 90 or 100 million comes in, I’d sell him. We’ll get another Gavi, for sure. A lot of people might not like it, but that’s my impression.”

Building on that, Majo then added that he would take a similar stance with Cubarsi as well, as he said:

“If they pay me 90 million for Cubarsi, I’d sell him too. Because I’m sure we have another centre-back in the youth academy. Barça is a factory of players.”

It must be noted that Barcelona consider Gavi and Cubarsi among the ‘untouchables’ in the squad heading into the summer transfer window.

Despite the club’s financial situation, no offers would be entertained for the La Masia duo, as both are viewed as key pillars of the project that the Catalans are building under new manager Hansi Flick.

Majo, who also claimed that Lamine Yamal will be the next Lionel Messi, further stated that Barcelona should also consider selling Raphinha for a big offer, saying:

“He started badly, but he finished the season quite well and quite fit. He is a player with a lot of class and is attractive to other teams. I wouldn’t sell him for 40 but for 90, yes.”

Unlike Gavi and Cubarsi, Raphinha is a player that Barcelona would be open to offers for this summer. However, the Blaugrana will only entertain proposals worth at least €90 million for the Brazilian.
