Ex-Barcelona chief Puig on discovering Fati, Riqui Puig: Very different; no-one could doubt Ansu

Former Barcelona youth chief Albert Puig has spoken of discovering Ansu Fati and Riqui Puig.

Puig is now working in Japan as head coach of Albirex Niigata.

He told France Football: "When Ansu was 9 years old, he had just arrived from Africa but he was a rough diamond and his game denoted joy.

"Riqui was 11 the first time I saw him play. I watched him evolve from year to year and we decided it was time to bring him in when he was 14.

"The physique was his great handicap, but in a certain part, that has allowed him to be stronger mentally and has encouraged him to do everything possible to improve tactically.

"With him he had to look further. With Ansu it was different. He had a pure talent, and there was no possible discussion."
