Midfielder Mkjhitaryan capped off a strong performance this evening with a crucial assist.

With the score still 1-0 during the second half, there was a real worry that Parma could find a way back into the match.

Inter probed for a second goal, but were unable to break through.

It took a brilliant pass from Mkhitaryan to get through the Parma defense.

The veteran former Arsenal and Roma midfielder lofted the ball over the Gialloblu midfield, straight into the path of teammate Nicolo Barella.

Barella timed his run well, staying onside but latching onto Mkhitaryan’s pass. He carried the ball into the Parma penalty area, before chopping onto his right foot and slotting the ball past Zion Suzuki.

Barella’s finish was certainly something special.

But the 27-year-old would not have been in a position to score without the vision and perfect weight of pass from his teammate Mkhitaryan.

But Mkhitaryan insisted that “It was normal.”

The Armenian said that his pass to Barella was “nothing special.”

“The important thing was for us to win,” Mkhitaryan added. “The credit goes to my teammates.”

And asked what his secret is for his performance levels, Mkhitaryan reiterated, “My teammates, the team.”

“I try to do my best. And then the rest happens. It’s nothing special.”

Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan gave his thoughts on Inter’s opponents in the Champions League next week, Bayer Leverkusen.

“Since I played in Germany they’re a different team,” said the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder.”

“They have a different coach and they’re a very strong team. A win is vital for us to keep going.”
