Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is “proud to be a part of” Inter Milan’s twentieth Serie A title and with it the second star.

The 35-year-old also expressed his happiness to have earned a contract extension with the Nerazzurri in the official matchday programme for today’s clash with Lecce at the San Siro.

Mkhitaryan is now going into his third season as an Inter player.

Both of the Armenian’s previous two campaigns in a Nerazzurri shirt have been memorable ones.

In Mkhitaryan’s first season at Inter, the team faltered in Serie A, but went on a memorable run to the final of the Champions League.

Then last season, Inter found their groove in the league. They won the title, and did so in dominant fashion by a margin of nearly twenty points.

And last season’s title was no ordinary one. It was the twentieth that Inter have won in their history.

That means that the Nerazzurri were able to become only the second team in Serie A history to put a second star above their club crest on their shirt.

Mkhitaryan beamed, “I’ve had two perfect, beautiful seasons with Inter.”

“As a team, we’ve always worked to grow both inside and outside the dressing room,” the Armenian went on. “And we’ll try to do so again this season.”

“We’ll try and give the new signings a hand, so that they can improve us even further and we can achieve new goals together,” Mkhitaryan said.

The former Roma, Arsenal, and Manchester United midfielder said that “We always work to win and make our fans happy.”

“When I arrived here everyone helped me out,” Mkhitaryan continued. “I immediately felt like a part of this family.”

“So I’ll try to do the same thing with the new signings this season.”

“Then, I have to thank the fans,” Mkhitaryan said. “Because they gave me a great welcome from day one.”

“My hope is that I can experience even more incredible feelings with them, and enrich the history of this club.”

“Winning the second star is not something that happens often,” Mkhitaryan said.

“I’m proud to have been a part of it. I don’t want to forget all the players who won all the other titles, which gave us to raise the twentieth Scudetto in this club’s history.”

And of getting a contract extension at Inter, Mkhitaryan said he is “proud.”

“It’s a confirmation that all the work I’ve done has made a contribution to the club,” the 35-year-old said.

“Now, I want to do even more for my teammates and the club,” Mkhitaryan said.
