Former Arsenal man Joel Campbell was part of the Costa Rica side that reached the 2022 World Cup on Tuesday.
The CONCACAF nation are through to the Qatar tournament this winter after fending off New Zealand in a play-off.
Costa Rica managed a hard fought 1-0 win in a closely contested game.
Campbell netted the only goal of the game in the third minute, and it was enough to seal the result for his side.
New Zealand eventually went down to ten men, with Kosta Barbarouses getting a red card in the second half.
